Dr. Cameron Clokie is a respected and well-known oral surgeon who has provided an enormous knowledge towards the advancements of oral and maxillofacial surgeries. In 1998, he was appointed as the Head of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He later became Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial, for the University of Toronto; retiring in 2017 as one of the foremost Professor’s in the University’s history.

Oral and maxillofacial surgery is a specialty that treats an abundance of diseases, injuries and defects within the head, neck, face and jaw. Dr. Cameron has sought to decrease the use of autogenous bone grafts, which he believes will no longer have a future benefit to patients. Instead, Dr. Cameron believes that the use of bio-implant technology, for standard ceramic dental implants, will better serve the patient and lessen the need to invade the dental cavity with the surgery.
Cameron Clokie spoke to his peers and colleagues during an IdeaCity conference about the importance of the future of regenerative medicine and gave an account of where he believes its directed within oral and maxillofacial surgery.
The lecture concentrated heavily on the science and technology advancements available to a patient’s health and longevity. IdeaCity is a venue where subject matter experts speak on their knowledge and bring awareness to their peers and those wanting to use the experience in their own profession.
Clokie has 25 patents within the United States and internationally combined. Additionally, he has several that remain pending as of May 2017, with regards to regenerative medicine.
Since his career began over three decades ago, Clokie has provided a profound contribution to the dentistry field and oral surgery. His leadership towards the technological advancements has been extraordinary accommodating to patients and his peers, all of whom have gained considerable knowledge and have benefited from his experience.
